Michael's book begins with a concise and informative section outlining the principles and aims of Ladybird Relaxation. The Guidelines are user-friendly and easy to transfer to the classroom. The characters are beautifully drawn with attention to facial expressions. Children can easily relate to the issues faced by the characters as the Ladybird guides them through the story by demonstrating the relaxation technique. The focus throughout the book is one of self help, and how this principle can be applied to any problem.

I love Michael's honest and direct approach to teaching yoga to children. His experience and dedication to supporting children through yoga are distilled in this lovely nutshell of a book. Ladybird's Remarkable Relaxation is the real deal, yoga nidra simply and entertainingly presented for big and small people alike. A delightful story with a powerful message , supported by a simple practical exercise for children to do for themselves. Perfect!

As an experienced yoga teacher of many years standing , I have read many books on yoga. This new book is a real joy, so refreshing and user friendly. It has wonderful illustrations, is well considered and presented, and deals sensitively with issues such as bullying, prejudice, bereavement and anxiety. The teachers' notes are superb. I enjoyed Frog's Breathtaking Speech but Ladybird is even better. Roll on Book 3!

I have just purchased Ladybird’s Remarkable Relaxation Book here in Australia – how wonderful it is! It is so much more than a book. The script that’s leads through a relaxation and helpful teaching information you always give allows teachers to feel confident in presenting these “remarkable” lessons. Love it!!!

This book is made to use in school, offering a successful relaxation technique that is simple, fun and easy to learn and can be administered by yoga teachers and non- practitioners alike.. It can be learned by everyone and once learned can be used anywhere at anytime when relaxation is needed. The bottom line is, it works!
Ladybird is an adorable, unassuming character who literally jumps off the pages of the book and onto various body parts of the body to add physical sensation and focus to a body scan mediation. At the back of the book, there are clear instructions on how to teach the Ladybird Relaxation and the actual Ladybird Relaxation Script.
I highly recommend this, one of the many awesome books by the dynamic duo of author, Michael Chissick, and illustrator, Sarah Peacock. Together they have filled a void in yoga and mindfulness for children with their picture books that clearly present techniques to reduce stress and increase peace of mind.

My local primary school asked if I would come in and teach yoga to Reception Class for four-week block. I accepted but was absolutely terrified being thrown in at the deep end. I quickly bought Sitting on a Chicken, Ladybird’s Remarkable Relaxation and Seahorse’s Magical Sun Sequences and read as much as I could on your website and I have to say, you saved my life!

I could not have gone in there and taught yoga without them. I was so nervous, as being an ex-teacher I knew exactly what to expect, and knew it would be difficult to keep control and engage a whole class.

Michael’s ideas and recommendations were spot on.

School has now asked me to go in regularly next year to work as part of their health activity afternoon and another head teacher has expressed interest also.

I am so grateful for MIchael’s advice and resources, which definitely gave me enough confidence to give it a go.

'As both a long standing primary school teacher and an experienced teacher of yoga to young children I can wholeheartedly recommend this book. The author has extensive experience of teaching yoga to children, in particular those with autism spectrum disorders and so he provides concise, easy to follow guidance for teachers and other adults wanting to use his techniques... Sarah Peacock's painting of the characters are great fun and beautifully portray the emotions .'

'There is much to learn from the simple story in this beautifully presented children's book, which aims to teach the basics of yoga and relaxation and enhance children's problem-solving skills through a more clearly focused mind... The book includes guidance for teachers and parents... it can be a delightful book for parents to read with children especially at times of stress or adversity... The book could be used for pre-schoolers (and possibly even younger if slightly adapted) and up to pre-teenage years ... It can also be used for children with special needs... I really liked this book as a tool for therapist. It would be great for practitioners and therapists to keep in the therapy room.'
