About

Hello I am Michael Chissick.

I have been teaching yoga to children in primary schools and special needs schools for twelve years.

I started practising yoga in September 1976.

If you had told me then that I was to become a children’s yoga teacher I would have laughed out loud.

Looking back to when I qualified as a primary school teacher and then a qualified British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) Teacher I can see the writing was pretty much on the wall.

Over the last twelve years I have developed imaginative and successful approaches to help children improve concentration, coordination and their fitness levels. More importantly I have seen the children’s mental health and emotional well-being improved immensely because of what and how I teach.

This is especially so with children with special needs including autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD and Emotional & Behavioural Problems.

I have also written the BTEC Advanced Diploma for Teaching Yoga to Children, which is the only teacher training course in the UK that has a meaningful accreditation.

My second book Frog's Breathtaking Speech was published both in the UK and the US in January 2012.

Meanwhile I am writing more books based on methods and techniques which have proved very successful and popular with my own pupils, designed to make children’s yoga more of a play orientated activity.

My first book co-written with my German colleague Petra Prossosky is extremely popular in Europe.
